HOW TO REDUCE YOUR SPORTS CAR INSURANCE PREMIUMS

There are a number of ways to lower your Sports Car insurance quote in Portugal. A lot will depend on your own circumstances and requirements and we have provided some ideas below:-

NO CLAIMS BONUS

A no claims bonus is the discount received from your car insurance provider for insuring your vehicle with them and not making any claims during the year of insurance. You can build up a no claims bonus over a 5 year period up. to a maximum of 60%. This is the amount they will discount your premiums for not having made a claim or as part of a loyalty bonus for staying with the same company. You can legally transfer your no claims bonus to another Insurance company as proof of no claims bonus. Having a good No Claims Bonus of 60% or more will make a huge difference.

EXPERIENCED DRIVERS

Driving experience counts for lower premiums, the more experienced you are the more you are likely to help reduce premiums. Age means discounts! Insurance companies in the UK are offering a tracking system that records your driving skills, speeds and capabilities and reward you with reduced premiums for adhering to speed limits and low mileage use. Unfortunately these are not available in Portugal yet, so you are just going to have to get old to get more discounts!

MULTICAR POLICIES

Multi car discounts for more than one car or adding your house insurance policy with the same insurance broker or agent will give you more discounts and a loyalty bonus if you stay with the same company.

NAMED DRIVERS

Being the only driver can have some sway in reducing the premiums, as some insurance companies like to restrict those that can drive expensive sports cars. Young drivers, under 25, will increase the premiums dramatically.

FIRST EXCESS

Increase your first excess. The first excess is the amount you pay when you make a claim on your sports car insurance. The excess is paid upfront and will be returned providing the accident was not your fault.

ANTI THEFT DEVICES

Installing an Anti-theft device in your sports car can help to keep your annual insurance premium down. The cost of having an alarm or low jack installed can soon be recovered in savings and allow you to sleep soundly at night.

SPECIFIED MILEAGE

Adding a specified mileage. As insurance premiums are based on risk factors, the further you travel annually the higher your premium is likely to be. Most insurance companies will give you the opportunity to adjust this to fit your personal requirements.
